Description
Some wars aren’t fought with weapons, but with syringes and oximeters.
In July 2020, a family kiss at a birthday party seemed like an innocent gesture. No one imagined that moment would open the door to hell.
Uyaní Carrero Alarcón, survivor of a childhood fire and a clinical death, now faces her most brutal battle: COVID-19.
But this time there are no hospitals, no operating rooms, no Burn Unit. The battlefield is her own bedroom. Her family improvises a medical unit in the middle of collapse. The tools are smuggled syringes, oximeters that dictate fate, and breaths that become a fight.
Her body weakens. Weight disappears. Air becomes scarce. The entire home becomes resistance.
Her husband searches for medications in a city without resources. Her four-year-old son watches her in silence from the edge of the bed. Her family holds onto the impossible with the only thing they have: love.
When medicine reaches its limit, the last option appears.
A single chance.
And if the body doesn’t respond, there’s no return.
At the threshold between life and death, the light opens again.
But this time, it’s not the promise of peace that stops her.
It’s an image: her son, alone.
That image is stronger than death.
Uyaní chooses to return. Not out of fear, but out of love for the life that still awaits her.
