Uyaní Carrero Alarcón is a Venezuelan writer whose work is born from deeply personal experience. Her literature is not fiction — it is memory transformed into pages.
A survivor of severe burns during childhood, a near-death experience in adulthood, and a serious battle with COVID-19 in 2020, she spent years preserving those memories in a work that explores pain, love, loss, resilience, and hope.
This is how The Three Kisses of Death came to be — an autobiographical trilogy where each page reminds us that even in the darkest moments, there is always a reason to keep living.

A Conversation with the Author
When did you start writing?
After the pandemic.
I was recovering from an illness that came very close to taking my life. As my body slowly healed, memories I had carried for decades began to surface.
That's when I understood it was time to write them down.
What were you writing at the beginning?
Only fragments of my life.
I thought it would be a single book. But as I recalled that experience of standing between life and death, I realized the story needed more space.
I was fragile, thin, deeply moved. I remembered the horror of pain. I remembered the relief of not leaving my children behind.
And so a trilogy was born.
Why did you decide to publish?
First I wanted someone to read those memories. The manuscript reached José Gregorio, but differences over how to organize something so deeply personal brought the project to a halt.
Later I shared it with my eldest son, Jhean Paul. The emotional impact was so overwhelming that he never made it past the prologue of the first book.
Five years later we picked up the project again. José Gregorio agreed to return under a clear agreement that would protect both the work and our personal relationship.
That collaboration is what ultimately shaped the trilogy that readers can now hold in their hands.
Which authors shaped your writing?
Life itself.
It has been my greatest teacher.
There are still stories left to tell. And as long as there are memories that deserve to be preserved, I will keep writing.
